User-Computer Issues

This website contains a collection of up-to-date studies concerning the overall, worldwide user-computer environment. There are three major issues that are of most interest to user interface developers.Foreign Users

The first is related to the operating systems, browsers and connection speeds that are most used on the Internet. A good user interface designer tries to ensure that their interfaces work well on the most commonly used operating systems and browsers, and that their pages load in a reasonable amount of time for most users.

A second major consideration is related to three computer-related demographics of typical website users – age, gender and education. For example, interfaces obviously need to be different for young children, less educated users, and college students; and the content for some sites may need to differ for women or for men.

The third issue is the languages used by the majority of people who are accessing websites and web applications. Particularly when compared with the languages contained in most sites. Web developers need to match the languages on their sites with the languages spoken and read by their users.
